Wrinkles and creases are inevitable as we age. Squinting, frowning, even smiling all hasten the formation of unwanted wrinkles. From a medical perspective, we know the underlying collagen and elastin fibers in the skin begin to break down and wear out. From a personal perspective, you just know you look older and more tired, even though you might feel great!
Not to worry. Those wrinkles can be addressed with a number of natural products known as fillers.
- RESTYLANE® SILK
Our providers at CSLC have been awarded a Top 100 Nationwide Restylane/Perlane Provider ranking for the past several years and recently were awarded TOP Provider in Michigan. That is quite an accomplishment and very deserving for an expert practice that has been injecting for over 11 years in Northern Michigan.
Our FDA-approved dermal fillers provide instant and long-lasting deep wrinkle correction. Dermal fillers are commonly used to restore volume and fullness to the face, correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles, enhance or define lips, and turn up a down-turned mouth. After a topical anesthetic, we use an ultrafine needle to inject a filler beneath the skin of the problem area. Results are immediate and last for 6-18 months depending on the chosen filler…some even stimulate your own collagen growth!

WHAT IS A DERMAL FILLER?
Dermal fillers are made from FDA-approved hyaluronic acid. They are very similar to absorbable suture material used in surgery, but in the form of a clear gel. It is injected into the skin to lift the lip, smooth wrinkles, or fill in a fold or defect in the skin.
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, so it also integrates well with your own tissues. It dissolves naturally with time. The effects of wrinkle fillers last months to over a year.
Fillers are not extracted from animals, so there is no risk of allergic reaction. Therefore, it is perfectly safe to use instantly without pre-testing.
Once in your skin, the gel creates volume, resulting in a more healthy and vital appearance. When injected into the lip, it can restore a more natural and sensuous shape and fullness.
HOW DOES A DERMAL FILLER WORK?
The treatment is performed by injecting the filler under your skin. Since no pre-test is needed, your procedure can usually be done in just a few minutes. Many patients like the added comfort provided with an anesthetic cream, while others prefer an anesthetic block similar to dental anesthesia. This makes the treatment relatively painless.
Cosmetic Skin & Laser Center recommends that patients stop taking any aspirin or aspirin-like products about a week or so before the procedure to decrease the possibility of bruising. This includes Motrin and Aleve (Tylenol would be okay to continue). Some patients may experience slight bruising at the injection site, which can be covered with a little makeup.
