WHO IS A CANDIDATE?
Anyone who doesn’t want to waste time shaving, who is tired of painful and expensive waxing, or is embarrassed by hair where it shouldn’t be. In short, anyone! Both men and women with coarse, dark hair and light skin are optimal candidates; light blonde, red, or gray hair may not be candidates. Fine (peach fuzz) hair is not treatable with laser.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE IMPROVED?

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE
Most patients require a series of about 5 treatments, anywhere from 4-12 weeks apart depending on the area being treated. Laser hair removal is permanent, but remember that new hair growth may occur due to hormonal changes and the natural aging process, so periodic touch-ups may be needed once your treatment series has been completed.
Treatment cost varies depending on the size of the area being treated. Multiple areas may be treated during a single session, and will save you money. With a free consultation, the providers at Cosmetic Skin and Laser Center will plan the best treatment for your unwanted hair. Certain medications can affect the outcome of laser hair removal, so it’s important to discuss your full medical history and ALL prescription medications you’re taking.
If you have a dark tan or use artificial tanning products, your skin may be too sensitive for a laser hair treatment immediately. In this case, we advise you to stop sun exposure/tanning products and return in 4 weeks for your treatment. Hair must be growing in the follicle for the laser to effectively destroy it, so you absolutely CANNOT pluck or wax for several weeks before your treatment!. (Shaving is acceptable because it still leaves the root deep in the hair follicle.)
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
After your laser hair removal treatment, you may have slight redness or irritation for a few hours to a day or two –like slight sunburn. Some people develop small bumps around the hair follicles, but those will gradually subside. If you have any discomfort, you can soothe the area with a cool ice pack in the office before you leave and when you get home. It is very important to wear sunscreen on treated areas that have the potential for sun exposure. Gradually, hair in the treated areas will begin to fall out. Between treatments, you may only shave. Do not pluck or wax.
